Another project of Bills was this white Calliope wagon. He had a talent for restoring old show wagons. He said it was his hobby. I believe he was keeping circus history alive.

Bill Capell was always buying old circus equipment. He then would restore it, play with it for a while, as this was his hobby and he enjoyed every minute of it. Much of the show wagons were either sold or donated and then Bill would start all over again on a new project.

At Bill Capell’s winter quarters it was a never ending process of building and restoring circus and carnival equipment, from wagons to merry go rounds.

Bill Capell bought this old Foley and Burk office wagon. After cleaning it up and repainting it to it’s original look, he made it his own office. It now can be found in his back yard.

These elephants were sold to Doc Capell circus. Their names are Lucy and Trixie. At the time of this photo they were owned by Edgar Buck. Doc took possession of them in the late fall of 1954.

This is what as known as the hot wagon. It’s really a diesel powered electrical generator used for the electrical needs of the Capell Bros Circus. This was their main plant and turned out 250 KW to 300 KW. Smaller electric plants were used for the back yard, usually 50 KW would supply all the [...]
