Memo from Ivan

Posted By on November 25, 2009

A few days ago a person emailed me concerning photos and information about Bones Hartzel and the Locken Family that were on the Siebrand Circus in the 40’s and 50’s.  By accident, I deleted the email and I would very much like that person to contact me again regarding those photos.

New Blogging will start soon. Thanks for your patience.

Thank you,

Ivan

    Hi Ivan,

Hope you are feeling better and ready to enjoy family and friends this Thanksgiving. Your comment about the Locken family stirred a memory. I remember a boy a little older than me named Mike Locken. It seems like his dad had a nickname that I just can’t quite remember, although it’s on the tip of my tongue.

    Take care,

    David

    Ivan,
Sorry it took so long to respond but I just happened to come across this message today. It was me who contacted you about Bones Hartzell and the Locken family. My Dad’s cousin was Glenna Locken-Hartzell. Glenna was the daughter of Glen “Bones” and Olive Hartzell. They were both clowns early on in their circus careers and later Bones ran a “live” octopus show in several carnivals. I posted comments on your Nov 2009 blog about Okie Locken today also. I was originally looking for info on where Glen Bones Hartzell was buried and have since found it at findagrave.com. Don’t know if you’re the one who put it there but if so, thanks. If you have other pictures or info about Oscar and Glenna or Lanny, David, Mike and Cathy Locken I would love to see it.

    Randy Hartzell
