in the late 40s and early 5os across from bunker hill afb ( grissom afb now) was a large animal barn we use to visit in winter, had hippos and elephants and others. i remember it as clyde beatty barns and you could walk through it. had to be careful ,we pulled in once and an elephant come charging around the building being chased by trainers.
