Robbins Bros Circus #2

Posted By on April 25, 2012

This is Robbins Bros steam calliope. It has out standing and large hand carving on the sides. Photo taken in 1931. You can actually see though the horn which would allow you to see the calliope pipes.

It’s important to distinguish the difference in these photos by owners. The 1931 photos are the Fred Buchanan show out of Granger, Iowa that was left at the Wm. P. Hall farm.
The 1938 photos are from the Zach Terrell and Jess Adkins owned show that was the second unit of the Cole Bros. Circus that year. Ironically, the Cole show closed due to the rotten business during the 1938 recession while the smaller Robbins Bros. was able to make the season. It was one of the few shows that did. Even Ringling / Barnum closed in June in 1938.
