Frank Buck

Posted By on May 1, 2012

It really is a shame that they didn’t have TV back in those days. In this picture, Frank Buck and one of his animal handlers are doing a radio show to a live audience but those at home had to listen and use the theater of the mind.

From the collection of Jerry Osborne.

Thank you Pete for your kind words about the circus blog.

Rasmus Nielsen (1874-1957) Tattooed and Pierced Strongman. I would like to find more information on Mr. Nielsen. The information I do have is available at http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=niel&GSiman=1&GScid=1596381&GRid=66849000&
Would love to hear from you if you are related or have any stories and or photographs. Thank you.

The woman in the photo is Olga Celeste, the Enchantress of Leopards. She came out of the old Selig Zoo, and was a contemporary of Mabel Stark on the Barnes show. Olga had leopards on set for DeMille films, and trained the famous “Baby” leopard for the Katherine Hepburn-Cary Grant film, BRINGING UP BABY. She died at her home in Burbank, in 1969, at age 81.
