Barnes & Sells Floto Circus

Posted By on June 13, 2012

I have a date on this photo of 1937. I don’t know if the date is correct or not….. I will leave it up to Bob Cline to determine. This is a cage wagon with a middle separation.

Hello. My name is Penny Schroder and I work at the Campbell County Rockpile Museum in Gillette, WY. While working on a project for the museum I began taking a closer look at one of the photos in our collection that is of a circus train being loaded. I have been trying to narrow down the date of the photo but other than sometime after 1918 I am having trouble. When you look closely at the image it you can see what appears to be Al G. Barnes Circus barely visible on the sides of two cars. Two elephants are pulling one of the wagons and two Mack trucks are visible in to the right of the elephants. If I were able to get a copy of the image e-mailed to you do you think you might be able to help me narrow the time frame. I know the Barnes Circus was here for an afternoon performance on Sept. 3, 1935. But am not sure if this is a bit earlier.

    Thank you.
