Gene Detroy was only his stage name not his real name. He is my great grandfather. His first wife Cynthia is my favourite nanny. I never got to meet him but I’ve heard a lot of stories.

Hi Amelia, Hayley, and Traci. Our Dad, John Baldwin, bought two of Gene’s chimps (Danny & Bobby) around 1971 or 1972. We also had a chimp later that my Dad named after Gene. As a kid I remember meeting Gene and seeing him perform. Danny died in the late 80’s. He was the most amazing chimp. My Dad and Danny were inseparable.
