Hubert had a giant-size blow-up of this cover in his garage. Not many circus performers got a LIFE cover, so he was justly proud. As his cat trainer, I saw it there on my many visits to his home in Dallas, on Peavy Road. The boy is Hal, Jr. In case anyone forgot, the wire-walker was born James Albert Hal Smith, in Enid, Oklahoma. The lady @ R is his wife, Mary Castle. Hubert died on January 29, 1989, of Alzheimer’s, at his daughter’s home, in Newburgh, NY. He was 76.

Would any one have any information on Hal’s brother Leon Smith? I am trying to find anything about him being in a Trapeze act. Some have said he became the Clown Quick Silver after he broke his back.
