Lakemont Park Post Card

Posted By on March 21, 2016

scan0003 Lakemont Park in it’s day was most likely a most beautiful place to visit. The people of Altoona, PA, were extremely proud of their park and rightfully so. It was heaven for school children and young couples often took advantage of it’s romantic atmosphere to propose in marriage and older patrons walked among the hundreds of natural flowers and trees remembering their past. On the reverse side of this card is a note. You will notice a one cent stamp on it. In the spring of 1988 I came to Lakemont to reopen it. While inspecting the rides that were there I went into the Leap The Dips maintenance shack and found a box with a canvas pouch containing cards and old photos which will follow in future posts.
