After world war tw0 these military semi’s were sold to the public. My Dad bought one and converted it into a 5th wheel mobile home. Dad was a fine builder.  Dad,  Bill Dietrich and Bud Baily had it ready to go on the road within a month.  The semi was all metal and very strong and the inside was lined with sheet metal with rows of seats much like that of a bus.  This is what the military used to haul military personnel to and from the base etc.  These semi- buses were lined up 10 or 20 at a time after they were filled with personnel. A truck would back under, hook up and take them to there destination…and then unhook and go back for another load. They used about 5 tractors per 10 semis. This system was to save fuel……  or so the military said.
