National Band

This lithograph is something that I cherish. It was a fantastic find and I am happy that I can share it with you.

I was informed that the above is not a Lithograph. Please read the comment from J. Martine.  Thanks your comment it is very enlightening.

No matter how old you are , there is always something to learn.

    Ivan, some of the artwork you have are not lithographs, but engravings. Engravings, were in fact extremely costly to produce since they were literally hand engraved onto a sheet of zinc or brass. Many took months to produce a single picture.
    A lithograph, on the other hand was produced by reproducing the image onto a stone printing plate in wax, the stone was then wet, and the ink rolled onto the surface, which was inverted onto the paper. Each color was done seperately to produce the full color image.
    Many people make the mistake of referring to any printed matter as a lithograph.
