Clyde Beatty & Cisco Kid

My question is, what circus was this. Beatty, or Cole. On the ad it just says railroad circus. Many circuses would present a TV or Movie star to bump up the attendance. Most of the time the star did a personal appearance in center ring during the show and later sign autographs. This ad was taken out in 1956.

  1. Roger Smith says:

When television drastically cut ticket sales, Beatty brought Hollywood friend Duncan Renaldo on during his successful run as The Cisco Kid. This ad did not draw the people, and Renaldo soon returned to the studios. Not long thereafter, Beatty declared bankruptcy on May 20, in Burbank, California. The show was allowed to return to Winterquarters, in Deming, New Mexico, and after a Sheriff’s auction and reorganization, the show re-opened to finish the 1956 season as the last railroad circus under canvas. The title was Clyde Beatty Circus, and remained so until it went out in 1959 as Clyde Beatty-Cole Bros.
